3764277 - Error: "Local address contains illegal character" in Inbound Email Monitoring

• An inbound email fails to process in Inbound Monitoring.
• The email status shows an application processing failure.
• Reprocessing the email fails repeatedly.
• One or more of the following messages are displayed:
  • G0001 - Application error
  • G0011 - Reprocessing failed
  • "Local address contains illegal character"

• SAP Service Cloud Version 2
• SAP Service Cloud and SAP Sales Cloud Version 2

1. Navigate to System Settings.
2. Open Emails → Inbound Monitoring.
3. Locate an inbound email with Failure status.
4. Open the processing details.
5. Select Reprocess.
6. Observe that the email fails again.
7. Review the failure details and observe one or more of the following messages:
   • G0001 - Application error
   • G0011 - Reprocessing failed
   • Local address contains illegal character

• The MIME content of the email contains an invalid recipient address format.
• A recipient field (To, Cc, or Bcc) contains a mailto: value instead of a valid email address.
  • Examples:
    • To: <mailto:>
    • To: mailto:user@example.com

Review the original email and correct the recipient address formatting.

1. Verify the To, Cc, and Bcc fields in the email.
2. Remove any mailto: prefixes or malformed hyperlink values.
3. Ensure that all recipients are maintained as valid email addresses only.
4. Resend the email with corrected recipient information.
5. Verify that the newly received email is processed successfully.
