Symptom
- Users cannot navigate back to the previous page from the mentoring sign up page if mandatory category fields are not completed.
- Mandatory field validation prevents moving to the previous or next tab on the sign up page.
- Users are effectively trapped on the current page until all required categories (for example, question category) are filled.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Mentoring.
Reproducing the Issue
- Log in to the mentoring application.
- Launch a new program.
- Enter mentoring program details.
- Click Next.
- Go to the sign up form page.
- Attempt to go back to the previous page.
- Click Previous and observe that navigation is blocked if required fields are empty.
Cause
- The Question Category field is configured as mandatory on the sign up page, and the application prevents navigation to previous or next tabs until all required fields are completed. This is expected system behavior based on the current configuration.
Resolution
- Complete all mandatory fields on the sign up page (including the Question Category field) to enable navigation to the previous or next tab.
- If business requirements permit, adjust the mentoring sign up schema to make the Question Category field (or other blocking fields) optional so that navigation is allowed without completing those fields.
- If the required behavior is to allow navigation regardless of mandatory fields and this is not supported by configuration, submit an enhancement request. Refer to the links in the See also section.
