3765371 - Datasets are not available on import connections, in SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

Unable to create dataset based on a live connection in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login into SAC.
  2. Go to stories.
  3. Create a new story.
  4. Click on DataSource.
  5. Click on any data source >> Only the "import connection" option is available for selection.

Cause

This behavior is by design.

Resolution

Datasets are only available to Import Connections. To use a Live Connection in a story, a live model must be created based on this connection before it can be consumed.
