Reproducing the Issue
Resolution
There are two ways to manage this, depending on how broadly you want to apply the restriction: either across the entire dictionary or limited to specific entries or categories.
Full restriction: Applies the restriction across the entire dictionary in one go.
- Go to Setup → Manage Access Rights
- Open the Access rights tab
- Select the Dictionary (top-level) or a parent category
- Set access:
- Specific users/groups = Write access
- All other users/groups = Read-only
- Apply at the parent level so it cascades to all subcategories
- Click Save
- Go to Setup → Manage Access Rights
- Open the Access rights tab
- Select the specific dictionary category
- Set access:
- Specific users/groups = Write access
- All other users/groups = Read-only
- Click Save
