3766834 - Higher Level of Jur Code in Record & not found in upload file or database

Symptom

  • Uploading united states tax jurisdiction rates via the tax jurisdiction and tax rate upload function returns hierarchy errors.
Higher Level of Jur Code in Record & not found in upload file or database
  • The same upload file succeeds in another non‑production system without hierarchy errors.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

1. Configuration activity Upload Tax Rates (SSCUI ID 100426) follow steps in Upload Tax Rates (United States)

2. Incorrect step Example: Upload a file with three records for state (level 1), county (level 2), and ZIP/city (level 3) jurisdictions, with differing tax codes between the first level and lower levels.

Cause

  • The uploaded file uses a different tax code at the higher (state) level than at the lower (county and city/ZIP) levels (for example, I0 at level 1 and I1 at levels 2 and 3).

Resolution

  1. Review the upload file and identify the tax code used at each hierarchy level (state, county, city/ZIP).
  2. Ensure the same tax code intended for lower levels is also used at the higher (parent) level first.
  3. Adjust the first (state) level record in the upload file to use the same tax code as the lower levels (for example, change from I0 to I1).
