3766905 - Contingent worker extension without gap sets identical end dates for SCWK job info records

Symptom

When extending a contingent worker without a gap and adding a Start Contingent Worker (SCWK) Job Information record on the extension date, both SCWK records (original and extension) receive the same end date (the day before the End Contingent Worker (ECWK) record).

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central: Contingent Workforce

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Hire a contingent worker using Add Contingent Worker with event reason SCWK.
  2. Ensure the feature “New Work Order Requires New Employments” is not enabled.
  3. On the worker’s profile, add a new Work Order that starts immediately after the previous work order ends (no gap).
  4. Via Job Information history UI, create a new SCWK record effective on the extension date (same date as the new Work Order start).
  5. Verify that an ECWK record exists for the subsequent end date.
  6. Run a table report (Person and employment export domain) including Job Information start date, end date, and event reason; observe both SCWK records have the same end date.

Cause

Known issue in end-date correction logic when inserting a new SCWK record on the same date as a previous ECWK record and occurs when “New Work Order Requires New Employments” feature is not enabled.

Resolution

  • This is a known limitation and Engineering is aware of this limitation. An enhancement request ECT-235292 is already open to enhance it.

Work-around:

  1. Delete the ECWK record that follows the extension.
  2. Reimport the SCWK record via Job Information incremental import to correct end-dating. Alternatively, if the record was not created via history, use import instead of the history UI to prevent the issue.
  3. To prevent recurrence, consider enabling the “New Work Order Requires New Employments” feature, which avoids this scenario when extending work orders.
