3767010 - HRIS Sync Fails via Import When the Employee’s Manager in EP Is Inactive

Symptom

The department field (identifier = department) fails to synchronize from EC to EP for certain employees, while the synchronization completes successfully for others.

The following inconsistent behavior is observed for the affected employees:

  • Import-based update: HRIS sync fails.
  • UI-based update: HRIS sync is successful.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Cause

For the employees whose synchronization fails, the manager maintained in EP is in an inactive state. When the manager is inactive, the system is unable to complete the synchronization. This is the expected system behavior.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below:

  1. Use Basic Import to update the manager of the affected employees in EP to NO_MANAGER.
  2. Once the update is complete, run Full HRIS Sync job.

After completing these steps, the synchronization should be successful.
