3767480 - Month abbreviations being displayed with additional dot on Brazilian Portuguese locale

Symptom

An additional dot is appearing after the month abbreviation on Brazilian Portuguese locale in the New Learning Experience (ILX).

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the HCM homepage.
  2. Open the Settings tab.
  3. Change Language and set Brazilian Portuguese.
  4. Open the LMS homepage.
  5. Go to Options and Settings.
  6. Set a Date Pattern ID that displays months as MMM (for example, d/MMM/yyyy).
  7. Return to the LMS homepage.
  8. Go to Reports.
  9. Open any report with a date filter (for example, the Learning Hours (CSV)).
  10. In the date filter, select any date.
  11. Observe that the month abbreviation includes an extra dot (for example, Nov.).

Cause

  • The LMS UI is adopting Unicode CLDR 48 locale standards for Brazilian Portuguese, which includes a period in abbreviated month and weekday names.
  • Different components render dates from different sources (for example, SAPUI5 and LMS labels). Currently, the CLDR-based format is applied primarily to editable fields, while some read-only areas may still display legacy abbreviations without the dot. This is expected behavior at this time.

Resolution

Alternatively, to have a different system behavior, it would be possible to have an enhancement request created for it (as per KBA 2090228), where the Learning Product Management team can further review and assess the requested functionality to be considered in a future release.
