3767677 - Error 06 354 "Material class differs from material from info record" occurs in production order external processing.

You enter a material group and a purchasing info record number in a production order operation on the External processing tab. However, the system raises error 06 354 - "Material class differs from material from info record" even if the entered material group and that of the info record are the same.
It is not possible to save the data with the entered info record. 

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Create a purchasing info record that contains a specific material number.
2. Use the purchasing info record in the routing for an external operation.
3. Create and release a production order.
4. Observe that no purchase requisition is created and the system raises error 06 354.

This is a known limitation. The system does not support the use of info records with a material number here.

If info record contains a material number, the material group will not be filled on Purchasing Info Record database level. Instead, it is always dynamically read from the material master. 

When the system checks the material group which was entered in the external processing tab with the one in the info record, it finds that material group is blank on database level and it does not match with the one entered in the production order. Therefore, system raises the error 06 354.

Only material group info records which do not contain a material number are supported. The error will not occur if enter a material group and a material group info record in the production order.
