Symptom
Story Report displays values for custom Generic Object field in standard Foundation Object despite field-level permission set to No Access
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Configure Object Definitions.
- Open a standard Foundation Object
- Configure a custom field of type Generic Object
- Set the Valid Values Source to an MDF object
- Go to Manage Permission Roles
- For the affected permission role, set the custom field permission to No Access
- Create or run a Story Report based on the standard Foundation Object
- Add the custom Generic Object field to the report.
- Result: The values for the custom Generic Object field are still displayed in the Story Report, even though the field-level permission is set to No Access.
Resolution
This behavior occurs because Story Reports currently do not support field-level permission enforcement for custom fields of type Generic Object configured in standard Foundation Objects.
In this scenario, the referenced values may still be displayed in the Story Report even when the field-level permission for the custom Generic Object field is set to No Access.
This is a current product limitation and requires an enhancement in Story Reports. The enhancement is currently planned for a future release.
