3768795 - Error 7136 After ISO_1 to UTF8 Conversion - ASE

Symptom

After changing the SAP ASE default character set from ISO_1 to UTF8, application users may encounter the following error:

Error 7136 :

 ASE is now using a multi-byte character set, and the TEXT character counts have not been re-calculated using this character set.

Use DBCC FIX_TEXT on this table before running the query again. 

The error may occur during:

  • Stored procedure execution
  • Data retrieval operations
  • Processing of temporary tables containing TEXT data
