Symptom

  • Users ask whether non-critical systems can be stopped and started during nights/weekends to save cost and improve security.
  • Only a restart option is visible; no stop/start capability is available for the hana database in datasphere.

Cause

The product currently does not include a feature to stop and start the hana database; only a restart function is available.

Resolution

  1. If needed for troubleshooting, use the restart function for the hana database. Refer to: Restart Your SAP HANA Database | Help Portal.
  2. If stop/start capability is required, submit an enhancement request via the influence channel. Refer to: 0003332382 - How to create an enhancement request for SAP Datasphere.
  3. Monitor product updates and release notes for future availability of stop/start functionality.
