3770111 - Workflow tokens with Reference and Pending data mapping are populated as blank in Workflow Custom Email Notification

When selecting Reference + Pending Data as the mapping, the workflow tokens display a blank value instead of retrieving the expected pending data for custom email workflow using document generation template.

1. For a CC role only workflow, perform the configuration for receiving custom emails.
2. Create Document Generation Group.
3. Create Document Generation Template and add the Content and Tokens/ Placeholders.
4. Configure the Document Generation Template Mapping by mapping the tokens as Reference + Pending Data to fetch data change pending for approval.
5. Observe that such tokens are populated as blank in the received custom email.

The Reference + Pending Data approach is not supported for CC only workflow.

For the CC only workflow, the reference + pending data is not supported. If a workflow has no approver but includes a CC user, it is treated as a CC-only workflow, regardless of whether a contributor is present. In this case, the data is saved directly, so no pending data is created. As a result, Pending Data–based references will be blank. This is the expected behavior. 

Reference + Pending Data approach is not supported for the following workflow types: 

• CC-only, 
• Foundation Object (FO), 
• Non-user-based based MDF, and 
• New hire workflows.
