3770492 - "Required" flag for Category field cannot be changed for Installment Plan

Symptom

  • The Category field is set as "Required" for Installment Plans by standard.
  • The field attributes for Category cannot be edited (specially the "Required" flag).
  • The issue occurs for entity "sap.ssc.financialsservice.entity.installmentPlan"

Environment

  • SAP Service Cloud Version 2
  • SAP Service Cloud and SAP Sales Cloud Version 2

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Systems Settings
  2. Open Extensibility Administration
  3. Search for Installment Plan
  4. Expand "Financial Service"
  5. Select "Installment Plan"
  6. Go to "Field Attributes"
  7. Unselect "Show Only Custom Fields"
  8. Search for "Category"
  9. Notice that the "Required" flag is grayed out and cannot be changed

Cause

The Category field is mandatory by design.

The field supports several business scenarios and processing rules for Installment Plans. When a Category value is provided, the system can derive relevant processing information automatically. Without this field, additional information would need to be maintained manually through multiple other fields.

For this reason, the field is delivered as a mandatory, non-configurable attribute.

Resolution

  • The Category field in entity "sap.ssc.financialsservice.entity.installmentPlan" cannot be configured as optional.
  • The Required attribute is system-controlled and cannot be modified through configuration.
  • When creating or updating Installment Plans:
    1. Maintain a valid value in the Category field.
    2. Adjust integration mappings, import processes, or business procedures to ensure the field is populated.
    3. Review source system data to provide an appropriate Category value where necessary.

There is currently no supported configuration, extensibility option, or standard setting that allows the Category field to be changed from mandatory to optional.
