3770799 - Error KM183 "No postings can be made to profit center &1 in company code &2" in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, when posting journal entry in app Post General Journal Entry, encounter error KM183 "No postings can be made to profit center &1 in company code &2", even though no profit center is entered in the parameter.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open app Post General Journal Entries.
  2. Create a journal entry for a company code using any account and leave the profit center field blank.
  3. Post the entry and observe that a blocking message states a profit center cannot be posted to the company code.

Cause

On the system, a customized substitution rule is active and derives a profit center for all postings. When no specific profit center can be derived, a default profit center is used.

The derived/default profit center is not valid/activated for the target company code, which causes the error.

Resolution

1. Review active substitution rules for journal entries in app F4406 to identify logic that derives a profit center or assigns a default profit center.
Deactivate the substitution rule or modify it so that a profit center is not derived when it is not required for the accounts used.

2. Review default profit center assignment in in SSCUI 120100.

3. If the assignment and substitution rules are kept, review if the profit center is activated for the company code.
