3771021 - Work order end date update fails after add contingent worker with termination date 12/31/9999 - SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Hire

• A termination date of 12/31/9999 is entered on the Add Contingent Worker screen and the transaction is submitted successfully.
• Later, when updating the Work Order End Date in the profile, an application error occurs.
• The End Contingent Worker transaction is not automatically created based on the termination date as expected.
• Because the End Contingent Worker transaction does not exist, the Work Order End Date cannot be updated.
• Error message: “An application error occurred. Please try again later, or notify support (with the error information …) if the issue keeps occurring.”

1. Add a contingent worker and set the Termination Date to 12/31/9999 on the Add Contingent Worker screen; submit.
2. Open the employee profile > Employment Information.
3. Open the Work Order portlet and select Edit.
4. Change the End Date to a valid future date (for example, 12/31/2026).
5. Save. An application error is displayed.

This was identified as a known issue.

When Termination Date 12/31/9999 is used for a contingent worker, the system does not create the corresponding End Contingent Worker transaction, which causes an error when updating the Work Order End Date.

The fix will be applied in our 2H2026 release.

Workaround:

As a workaround for this issue do full purge via import for both work order and job information.

• Work Order: Admin Center -> Import and Export Data -> Download Template(Work Order) and update with data -> Import Data -> Select Generic Object as Work Order -> Purge Type as Full Purge -> Import.

• Job Information: Admin Center -> Import Employee Data -> Download Template(Job Information) and update with data ->Import Data -> Select a entity as Job Information -> Purge Type as Full Purge -> Import.

Recommendation:

• Avoid using 12/31/9999 as the Termination Date for contingent workers, as this date is not supported for Work Order end dates.
