Symptom
- After creating the Single Record Approval from the time sheet UI via the Quick Create button, the status remains "To be Submitted" instead of changing to "To be Approved".
- Check the Employee Time Sheet in Manage Data, the affected Employee Time Sheet entry has no Attendance Request object is created and the approval workflow does not start.
- The issue happens for the legacy week time sheet approval period.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Sheet
Reproducing the Issue
- In the Time Sheet UI, create a Single Record Approval using the Quick Create button and save it.
- Observe that the entry remains in "To be Submitted" and no Attendance Request record exists for the Employee Time Sheet Entry.
Cause
Validate rule is created for the Attendance Request object and blocked the creation of it's creation.
Thus, no workflow is triggered and the Single Record Approval remains "To be Submitted" status.
Resolution
Validation rule is not recommended to use for Attendance Request object, please move all validation rules from the Attendance Request object to the Employee Time Sheet Entry object.
For legacy week time sheet, attendance validation logic is recommended to be implemented via the Time Sheet validation rules / time valuation rules in the Time Recording Profile and the validation rule for Employee Time Sheet Entry object.
Regarding the existing Time Sheet Entries:
- Delete invalid time sheet entries that are stuck in "To be Submitted" without an Attendance Request as they're not supposed to be created.
- If an entry is now valid, resubmit it from the Time Sheet UI so the Attendance Request is created and the status changes to "To be Approved".
Note: The Quick Create button cannot be disabled or hidden. After moving validation rules to the correct objects, Quick Create can be used safely.
A fix for the Quick Create behavior is planned for the 2H2026 release. Refer to this KBA for updates.
