Symptom

The following error is observed in transaction SM21 of the SAP Solution Manager system:

Database error -10427 at OPC

---> Conversion of parameter/column (1) from data type UCS2 (LE)
---> to BIGINT failed (invalid number: not a valid number string "")

  • The error may occur repeatedly in the system log without an obvious indication of the originating process or work process.
  • In some environments, the error is logged on a daily basis and may coincide with SAP EarlyWatch Alert (EWA) data collection activities.
