3772605 - Data Action failing without any configuration changes

Symptom

- Data Actions perform differently during the day and week, sometimes failing without any configuration changes.

- Errors encountered include:

1. "The data action couldn't run on version because the maximum number of facts was exceeded. Please restrict the scope of the affected step."

2. "An unexpected technical error occurred when processing the data action on version. The error has been logged."

3. "Initiating changes to the public version failed, so the data action couldn't run. Please check for other errors about this version, or check its data access control settings."

4. "The Data Action step has failed due to: Initiating changes to the public version failed., so the data action couldn't run: The operation on the version failed, most likely because it is too large."

Environment

SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD

Cause

- The issue is caused by system resource limits being exceeded due to the large size and wide scope of Data Actions. Resource availability varies in multi-tenant environments, leading to inconsistent behavior.

Resolution

- Optimize the Data Actions by:

- Reducing the scope of steps to process fewer records at once.

- Reviewing the model design and removing unnecessary measures or details.

- Archiving older data to reduce overall model size.

- Using Planning Areas for editing large public versions.

- Reviewing allocation space to minimize unnecessary details.
