3772772 - Error: "Import to model ended unexpectedly 5004" when trying to import jobs in SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

Manual and scheduled import jobs are failing with the following error: "Import to model ended unexpectedly 5004" in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log in to SAC.
  2. Open an existing model with data.
  3. Switch to Data Management and try to refresh an import job or create a new one.

>> Notice the following error "Import to model ended unexpectedly 5004".

Cause

  • The import model is already including a big amount of data.
  • Subsequent data imports to an existing model cannot exceed a total of 2^31-1 (2,147,483,647) rows.

  • It is not possible to import data or schedule a data import into an existing model if the resulting fact data would include over 2^31-1 (2,147,483,647) rows.

Resolution

  • As the model is including a big amount of data, manual and scheduled import jobs are failing.
  • In order to resolve the issue, it is possible to either reduce the existing old data in the model or create a new model for new imports.
