3772781 - Unable to select or switch dimension hierarchies in Just Ask in SAP Analytics Cloud

When utilizing Just Ask, users are unable to explicitly select or dynamically switch between multiple parent-child hierarchies defined within a single dimension.

For example:

• A model contains a dimension featuring two distinct parent-child hierarchies.
• When running a query in Just Ask, the system automatically fetches data based on a single pre-determined hierarchy.
• There is no available user interface toggle, keyword syntax, or result setting configuration within the Just Ask console to switch the hierarchy being used.

This behavior is a current functional design constraint of the product. Just Ask is architected to automatically interpret and pull data exclusively from whichever hierarchy is designated as the Default Hierarchy within the underlying model configuration. It does not natively support multi-hierarchy selection or on-the-fly switching at query runtime.

While the hierarchy cannot be changed directly inside the Just Ask conversational interface, it can be controlled by modifying the default hierarchy of the model in the SAC Modeler.

To set the preferred hierarchy as the default for Just Ask queries, execute the following steps:

1. Navigate to the target model.
2. Within the model structure view, find the specific dimension experiencing the issue.
3. Look at the Dimension Settings panel located on the right-hand side of the screen.
4. Locate the Hierarchies section, choose the specific hierarchy to Just Ask to prioritize, and select Set as Default Hierarchy.
5. Click the Save icon in the top toolbar to commit the changes to the tenant.
6. Back in Just Ask, perform a manual Model Synchronization.

Once the model finishes indexing, any subsequent natural language queries targeting that dimension inside Just Ask will automatically reference and display data according to the newly assigned default hierarchy.
