Symptom
After job role un-mapping from sub-Family and mapping it to a Parent family in Manage job profile content, the changes are not saved.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Job Profile Builder
Reproducing the Issue
1. You have sub-families created in the system following the guide Creating Sub Families | SAP Help Portal. Sub-families are mapped to a Parent family and contain job roles.
2. Edit a job role in Manage job profile content and map it to the Parent family, save the changes.
3. See that in the Roles list the role shows as mapped to sub-family.
4. Reopen the unmapped role and click Family menu.
4. See that the changes are reverted and the role is mapped back to sub-family.
5. Notice, that the sub-family skills or competencies are inherited by the role.
Resolution
The fix for this issue is tentatively planned for 2H 2026 release:
- preview systems: October 12th 2026;
- production systems: November 13th 2026.
Workarounds:
- Un-map job role from sub-family using "Manage data" tool by removing value in "Sub-Family" field.
- Map job role to a Parent Family with import via "Manage job profile content export and import" tool.
