3773405 - installing permanent license with hdbsql fails with error 436 / exception 6999001; database locked after temporary license expiry (sqlcode 437) - SAP HANA

Symptom

  • Database enters lockdown state; only license handling commands allowed (SQLCODE 437).
  • Installing a permanent license fails with: error 436: could not set system license; exception 6999001: Failed to install a permanent license.
  • Nameserver trace may show: “Unexpected syntax: no '=' found” and “Line 11 of the license key file”.
  • License status check shows PERMANENT=FALSE, VALID=FALSE, LOCKED_DOWN=TRUE; installation/system identifiers may display as unknown.
