3773419 - Demo master data missing after scope item activation in test tenant - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • A scope item (e.g. 6GD) is activated in a test, demo or development tenant, but the baseline / demo master data referenced in the Best Practices Document for that scope item is not available.
    • Example: Material FG0611 is as baseline master data, but the material does not exist in the system even after scope item activation.
  • It is expected that activating a scope item automatically provides the associated demo master data.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Activate the relevant scope ID (for example, 6GD).
  2. Check the system for baseline/demo master data shipped with the scope.
  3. Observe that sample objects (for example, material FG0611) are not available.

Cause

The "Include Demo Data" option was not selected during the initial deployment target assignment in Central Business Configuration (CBC); this choice is one-time and cannot be changed afterward.

Resolution

If the scope item has already been deployed without the demo data, use data migration template samples to import the sample data to your system.

Migration Cockpit template files are prefilled with sample data and can serve as a starting point.
