3773507 - Withholding tax amount not displayed in Manage Supplier Line Items / Manage Customer Line Items app

In the Manage Supplier Line Items or Manage Customer Line Items app, the withholding tax amount is not displayed for one or more supplier/customer line items.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Manage Supplier Line Items app/Manage Customer Line Items.
2. Filter for a supplier/customer and display open/cleared items.
3. Observe that for at least one document the Withholding Tax amount is not displayed in the line item list, while other documents for the same supplier/customer show a Withholding Tax amount.

This behavior occurs when Extended Withholding Tax (EWT) is active.

With Extended Withholding Tax, a single supplier or customer line item can contain multiple withholding tax records. These records are stored in the WITH_ITEM table rather than in the withholding tax fields of the accounting line item (BSEG/ACDOCA).

The Manage Supplier Line Items and Manage Customer Line Items apps are designed to display only a single withholding tax value for each supplier/customer line item. When multiple withholding tax records exist, there is no guaranteed one-to-one relationship between the line item and a specific withholding tax record. Consequently:

• Only one withholding tax entry can be displayed for a line item.
• The displayed entry is not deterministic when multiple withholding tax records exist.
• One document may appear to display a withholding tax amount, while another similar document may not, even if both were posted using the same business process and withholding tax configuration.

Therefore, the Withholding Tax Amount column in these apps should not be used to monitor Extended Withholding Tax information.

This is standard system behavior.

When Extended Withholding Tax is active, the Manage Supplier Line Items and Manage Customer Line Items apps are not intended to provide a complete or consistent view of withholding tax information.

To review withholding tax details, use one of the following: CDS View:

• Display Journal Entries / Manage Journal Entries – Select the supplier or customer line item and display the withholding tax information.
• CDS View: I_WithholdingTaxItem – Withholding Tax Item
  This CDS view is designed specifically for reporting and analyzing withholding tax information

Do not compare the withholding tax values shown in the Manage Supplier Line Items or Manage Customer Line Items apps with other withholding tax reports or applications, as they use different data sources and system logic.

This behavior is expected by design when Extended Withholding Tax is enabled.
