3773827 - Unexpected Released Execution Model Selected During Material Cost Estimate Rollup

Symptom

Material Cost Estimate Rollup uses a released execution model even though the corresponding production model has both the Planning Consistency Status and Execution Consistency Status in "Check Pending".

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Inventory Valuation work center.
  2. Open Material Cost Estimates view.
  3. Search for the relevant material cost estimate and select it.
  4. Under Object Information, click Released Execution Model.
  5. Note the Version ID used for the material cost estimate.

  1. Go to Planning and Production Master Data work center.
  2. Open the Production Models view and find the relevant Production Model ID.
  3. Observe that the Planning Consistency Status and Execution Consistency Status are displayed as "Check Pending".
  4. Click on Open Released Execution Model and select All Released versions.
  5. Observe that End Date can be “Unlimited”.

  1. In Planning and Production Master Data, open Source Determination view.
  2. Search for Material ID and review the maintained priority for the model under Source of Supply priority.

Cause

Even though the production model shows a "Check Pending" status, this does not restrict Material Cost Estimation.
For costing purposes, ByDesign always prioritizes the Released Execution Model based on its validity dates, rather than the planning model or its check status.
Till the execution model is released and falls within its validity period, it will be selected during the costing run.
The released execution model is assigned a Costing Priority, which determines the model used for costing.

To check the Costing Priority:

  1. Go to the Planning and Production Master Data work center.
  2. Open the Production Models view and find for the relevant Production Model ID.
  3. Click Open Released Execution Model and select All Released versions.
  4. Under the Details section, you will find the Costing Priority X. (X refers to priority (for example, 1))

Material Cost Estimation evaluates this Costing Priority and selects the released execution model accordingly, without considering other available models or their Source of Supply Priority.

Resolution

This is the expected system behavior.
