Symptom
A custom analytical query is created based on a custom CDS view. When the analytical query is previewed, F4 value help is not available for certain filter fields, while it is available for other fields. As a result, values cannot be searched for or selected using the value help for the affected filter fields.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Cause
Missing "Master Data View" assignments in the custom CDS view used by the custom analytical query.
Resolution
To enable F4 value help (dropdown values) for fields, a Master Data View must be maintained in the Custom CDS Views app. Only then are value help, display properties, texts, and hierarchies available in the Custom Analytical Queries app.
For example, if a custom analytical query is created based on the custom CDS view YY1_ABC, fields that are not assigned to a Master Data View in the CDS view will not provide F4 value help in the analytical query.
The Master Data View maintained in the Element Properties step of the Custom CDS Views app determines the F4 value help available for each field.
To assign a Master Data View:
- Open the Custom CDS Views app.
- Search for the custom CDS view YY1_ABC.
- Choose Edit.
- Navigate to the Element Properties tab.
- Select the required field.
- In the Master Data View section, assign an appropriate available view.
- Save and publish the custom CDS view.
