3774363 - Service Order Follow-Up from Contract Shows "Time and Material Missing", "Reference Item Finished", and "Validity Expired" Warnings

When creating a follow-up Service Order from a Contract, one or more of the following warning messages are displayed:

"Copying item not possible: configuration for Entitlement – Time and Material is missing."
"Copying item not possible: the reference item is finished."
"Copying item not possible: the validity period of the reference item has expired." (if applicable)

As a result, the contract item is not copied to the follow-up Service Order.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Navigate to the Sales Orders work center.
2. Select the Contracts view.
3. Open an active Contract.
4. Select Edit and View All.
5. Choose Follow-Up and then select Service Order.

Observe that one or more warning messages are displayed during the creation of the follow-up Service Order.

In service scenarios, entitlement item types maintained in a Contract are not automatically copied to follow-up Service Orders. The entitlement item must be added manually to the Service Order.

Additionally, if a contract item has already been fulfilled (finished) or its validity period has expired, it can no longer be copied to a follow-up document. As a result, the system displays the warning messages during the creation of the follow-up Service Order.

This is the standard system behavior.

After creating the Service Order as a follow-up from the Contract, the required Entitlement – Time and Material item must be added manually to the Service Order.

Please note the following:

• Items that have already been fulfilled/Completed cannot be copied to follow-up documents.
• Items whose validity period has expired cannot be copied to follow-up documents.
