Symptom
- Users with business roles that allow creating and editing email templates see the Delete option disabled (greyed out).
- Only administrator users can delete email templates.
- No error message is displayed when attempting to delete as a non-administrator.
Environment
- Product: SAP Cloud for Customer core applications
- Service Request Processing
Reproducing the Issue
- Sign in with a non-administrator user who has permissions to create and edit email templates.
- Navigate to the area where email templates are maintained.
- Open an existing email template.
- Observe that the Delete action is disabled (greyed out) for the user.
Cause
Deletion of email templates is restricted by design to the administrator role; non-administrator roles do not include delete authorization for templates.
Resolution
- Confirm that the affected user is not assigned the administrator role.
- If the business requires users to delete templates, assign the administrator role to the user or create/assign a custom role derived from the administrator role that includes delete authorization for email templates.
- Have the user sign out and sign back in to refresh authorizations.
- Validate that the Delete option is now available for the user.
- If governance policies require restricting deletion, keep deletion limited to administrators and route deletion requests to administrator users. Note: Allowing non-administrators to delete templates deviates from recommended best practices.
