3774891 - JSON error when selecting country in localized biographical information

When editing localized biographical information and selecting Eg:Italy in the Country/Region localized section, the UI shows: "Unexpected non-whitespace character after JSON at position *** (line 1 column ****)". Variants include position ***(line 1 column ***).

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

1. Navigate to an employee’s profile.
2. Open the Biographical Information portlet and choose Edit.
3. In the localized biographical information section, set Country/Region to Italy or any country.
4. Error occured: Unexpected non-whitespace character after JSON at position 2542 (line 1 column 2543) 

Configuration inconsistency in the country-specific biographicalInfoLoc hris element, where fields that are not enabled for the respective country.

• This is a known issue and is planned to be fixed in the 2H 2026 release.

• Until the permanent fix is delivered, please follow the below workaround: 

• • Navigate to Manage Business Configuration.
  • Go to biographicalInfoLoc and select the affected country-specific configuration (for example: biographicalInfoLoc_ITA).
  • Click Take Action > Make Correction.
  • Review the country-specific fields and identify any fields that are not enabled and is added. For example, if region-of-birth is not enabled in the configuration but is added, remove the region-of-birth field. Alternatively, if the field is needed, make Enabled:Yes.
  • Save the changes.
  • After removing the unused or disabled fields (or enabling them where appropriate), the issue should be resolved.
  • Please note that this is a temporary workaround until the permanent fix is included in the 2H 2026 release.
