Symptom
After packing all stock in an inbound delivery, unpacking a handling unit in the Change Inbound Deliveries app does not update the unpacked quantity for the delivery item.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
Cause
- Delivery Item Quantity is Fixed: Unpacking a Handling Unit changes its structure (moving items from packed to unpacked status), but it does not alter the absolute quantity expected in the delivery document.
- Goods Receipt Status Dependent: Stock inventory figures (such as those visible in the Warehouse Monitor) do not alter their foundational UUID states until the physical Goods Receipt is completed or a dedicated warehouse execution task updates the storage bin allocation.
- Warehouse Task Execution Needed: When using embedded Warehouse Management (eWM), the "Create Task Manually" button inside the Change Inbound Deliveries app is designed specifically to target unpacked stock items. Until you generate and confirm a new Warehouse Task for the newly unpacked stock, the system will not register a change in your physical physical storage locations
Resolution
- Verify Packing Status Change: Go to the Change Inbound Deliveries app, click Unpack, and confirm that the Packing Status has switched to Partially Packed.
- Process the Unpacked Quantity:
- Navigate to the item screen for the delivery.
- Click the Create Tasks button to allow the system to automatically generate a put-away or process task for the newly unpacked loose stock.
- Alternatively, use the Warehouse Monitor to execute a movement task moving the loose quantities to their respective destination storage bins.
- Confirm Warehouse Tasks: Ensure that all generated Warehouse Tasks for both the remaining packed HUs and the unpacked items are fully Confirmed.
- Post Goods Receipt (GR): Post the Goods Receipt to update the absolute stock quantities across the MM-IM and EWM levels simultaneously.
