3775099 - Cannot map a restriction derived variable from an input variable in analytic model ("map to" shows only parameter or new variable) - SAP Datasphere

• When creating a restriction variable set to “derive value” via a lookup entity, the “map to” option no longer lists existing input variables.
• Only “input parameter” or “new variable” are offered in “map to”; existing variables (for example, restriction or filter variables) are not selectable.

• Analytic Model

1. In an Analytic Model, create a new restriction variable.
2. Set “variable filled by” to “derive value”.
3. Choose a Lookup Entity. 
4. Open “map to” and attempt to select an existing input variable; observe that only “input parameter” or “new variable” options are available.

• Lookup entity parameter mapping supports only standard variables. Previously, restriction/filter variables appeared in the “map to” list due to a system gap.
• Restriction variables can represent multiple value types (single, multi, interval, range), while lookup derivation returns a single value; the system was corrected to enforce semantic consistency and now allows only standard variables for mapping.

1. Use a standard variable for mappings with lookup entity derivations.
2. If the design relies on a restriction variable, create an equivalent standard input variable for the same dimension and map the lookup derivation to that standard variable.
3. Continue to use restriction variables only to restrict measures within the Analytic Model, not as mapping targets for lookup derivations.
