Symptom
Performance Management E-mail Notification is truncated, footer cut-off, HTML code is visible or intermittent rendering issues.
For consolidated PM notifications, each next notification is not aligned to the previous one.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Email Notification Template Settings.
- Choose a PM related template, for example "Document Creation Notification".
- Edit the Template adding a longer email body text and save.
- Check the email received and see that it's truncated, footer cut-off, HTML code is visible, consolidated notifications are not aligned.
Cause
The templates in Email Services have a maximum length of 4000 bytes on the database, the data stored cannot be over 4000 bytes. If this limit is exceeded, the notifications might be truncated or rendered incorrectly.
Additionally, per the KBA 2540366 - E-mail Notification Character Limit - SAP for Me: the size of the whole e-mail itself should not exceed 20MB.
Resolution
This is the current system limitation for PM related notifications.
To fix the issue:
- Reduce the length of the email body for PM related notification templates, so the total stored content (including HTML formatting) stays below 4,000 characters.
- Keep a sufficient safety buffer for template Tokens' content, Email Signature or if notifications are consolidated.
- Minimize or remove Rich Text/HTML formatting (avoid complex inline styles and long signatures/footers) to reduce hidden formatting.
