Symptom
- When executing the "Take Snapshot" process to update exposures in the Hedging Area, the exposure data is not determined or updated if a WBS Element filter is applied.
- If the WBS Element filter is removed from the configuration of the Hedging Area, the exposures are successfully updated and visible.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Create or use a hedging area with a WBS element filter.
- Create or assign raw exposures that contain the same WBS element used in the hedging area filter.
- Run Take Snapshot to update exposures in the hedging area.
- Observe that the exposure data source is not determined and no exposures are updated.
- Remove the WBS element filter from the hedging area and run Take Snapshot again.
- Observe that exposures are now updated in the hedging area.
Cause
If the WBS Element is not included in the differentiation criteria of the specific exposure position type, the field value is never propagated from the raw exposure item to the final exposure position. Consequently, the generated exposure position holds no WBS value, which causes the WBS filter in the Hedging Area to return zero matching records.
Resolution
To ensure that WBS Element values are correctly propagated to the exposure positions, the field must be added to the additional differentiation settings:
- Open the configuration activity (SSCUI 104298: Define Exposure Position Types).
- Select the relevant Position Type used within the specific Hedging Area setup.
- Navigate to the Additional Differentiation section or sub-dialog.
- Add a new entry specifying WBS Element as a differentiation criterion.
- Save the configuration.
