3776615 - Placeholder Values Do Not Populating on the Form at Complete e-Signature Step - Onboarding

Symptom

The document is generated successfully, and the e-signature process works as expected. However, all placeholders mapped to Job Information/Personal Information remain blank in the generated PDF.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Configure a document template for Onboarding 2.0 and map placeholders to Job Information/Personal Information fields.
  2. Proceed to the Complete e‑Signature step where the document is generated and presented.
  3. Observe that placeholder values are blank without errors.

Cause

Use of spaces, tab spaces, or special characters (for example, a space before “&” in a mapped field value) in the data source is not supported for document placeholder population, resulting in blank values.

Resolution

  1. Identify the mapped field values that contain spaces, tab spaces (\t), or special characters that are used by the document placeholders.
  2. Update the upstream value to remove such characters (for example, change “X & Y” to “X&Y”).
  3. Regenerate the document or restart the Onboarding document step to verify that placeholders now populate as expected.

Note: On Document Mapping Template Preview screen, the value looks good, it is just the code not the actual value. Please validate the actually input value.
