3776907 - "Job Information - You Do Not Have the Necessary Permission" in Alumni Experience - Onboarding

When an alumni user attempts to edit the Job Information portlet in their People Profile through the Alumni Experience portal, the following error is displayed:

Error: "Job Information - You do not have the necessary permission."

The error occurs even when the administrator's permission role includes the alumni user type as the target population and the Alumni External User role is configured in Manage Permission Roles.

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

1. Convert an employee to an alumni user through the Offboarding process.
2. Navigate to the alumni user's People Profile in the Alumni Experience portal.
3. Attempt to edit the Job Information portlet using the pencil or edit icon.
4. The error "Job Information - You do not have the necessary permission" is displayed.

Job Information edit and insert access is not part of the Alumni user permission schema. The Alumni Experience uses a restricted permission set enforced at the platform level. The permissions available for an Alumni External User role are filtered by user type, returning only the permissions scoped to the alumni user schema. Job Information edit and insert permissions are not included in that schema. As a result, these permission types do not appear in the RBP configuration UI for the Alumni External User role and cannot be granted.

The only Job Information permission exposed for alumni users is View Current, scoped to the Work Experience card in the Spotlight view. No edit or insert action exists for alumni users in the current product.

Note: Having Alumni (All) set as the target population in the administrator role controls which alumni records are visible to administrators. This setting is independent of the portlet-level permission schema that governs what an alumni user can do within their own profile. Target population configuration does not unlock permissions that are absent from the alumni user schema.

No configuration change resolves this error. The Job Information edit and insert permissions are absent from the alumni user schema by product design and cannot be added through RBP configuration. This behavior is documented in Role-Based Permissions for Former Employees as Alumni Users.

The alumni permission set covers the following portlets in the People Profile: Personal Information, Biographical Information, Address, Contact Information, National ID, Emergency Contacts, Dependents, and Payment Information (editable); pay statements, payroll documents, and ESS forms (read only). Job Information is available only as a read only Work Experience entry in the Spotlight view.
