3777176 - Cannot delete/ deactivate the existing withholding tax types in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

The delete option is greyed out/ not available in the below configuration activities for withholding tax types (WHT):

• Configuration activity 104225 - Define Withholding Tax Type for Invoice Posting.
• Configuration activity 104226 - Define Withholding Tax Type for Payment Posting.

1. Attempt to delete the existing withholding tax types in configuration activity 104225/ 104226.

2. Observe that the delete button is greyed out.

This is an expected behavior. Deletion or deactivation of an existing WHT type is not supported by design to avoid inconsistencies, especially in case documents containing the relevant WHT types exist.

Instead of deletion/ deactivation of the existing WHT types, consider restraining the validity of the WHT type in configuration activity 103914 – Assign Withholding Tax Types to Company Code.

P/s: Optionally update the withholding tax type description to include "DO NOT USE" to notify users.
