3777328 - G/L Account Type Field Shows "N" in Trial Balance While G/L Account Master Data Implementation Status Shows "P"

Symptom

  • In the Trial Balance report, G/L Account XXX is displayed with Account type "N" (where XXX is the G/L Account ID).
  • In the Manage G/L Account Master Data app, the same Account shows implementation status "P" which is productive use.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Trial Balance report.
  2. Locate the relevant G/L Account XXX.
  3. Observe that the Account type displays "N" in Trial Balance, while the implementation status in the manage G/L Account Master Data app shows "P".

Cause

  • These two fields are completely separate and are not linked. One is about the implementation status in the Manage G/L Account Master Data App. The other one is about the G/L Account Type in the Trial Balance Report. They have nothing to do with each other.
  • In the Trial Balance, Account type "N" denotes a non-operating expense or income Account and is not related to the implementation status. The Trial Balance report does not display the implementation status field.

Resolution

  1. Recognize that in the Trial Balance, type "N" indicates a non-operating expense or income Account and does not reflect implementation status.
  2. Use the manage G/L Account Master Data app to verify the implementation status (for example, "P" for productive use).
  3. If implementation status is needed in Trial Balance reporting, create an adapted report by including the implementation status via a custom CDS view.
