• Error message: "The field 'Level of Available Quantity' on a storage type can only be set at the moment the storage type is created. It cannot be changed afterwards." (/SCWM/LT271)

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open configuration for an existing EWM storage type.
2. Attempt to change the field "Level of Available Quantity" (for example, from "Highest-Level HU" to "Storage Bin").
3. Save the changes and observe error /SCWM/LT271.

• The field "Level of Available Quantity" is a design-time attribute that can only be set during storage type creation and cannot be changed afterwards (hard system restriction; error /SCWM/LT271).
• If the storage type is already referenced (for example, bins created, warehouse tasks or configuration references exist), deletion or recreation with the same ID is not supported.

1. Create new storage type(s) with the correct "Level of Available Quantity" setting from the start.
2. Migrate all relevant configuration references to the new storage type(s), such as Warehouse Process Types, bin determination, putaway/removal rules, search sequences, and storage control.
3. Phase out the old storage type(s): remove them from all search sequences and determination rules so they are not proposed by the system.
4. To reduce selection by mistake, rename the old storage type description to a clear label such as "DO NOT USE" and keep it unreferenced; it does not need to be formally deleted.
5. If Advanced Returns Management (ARM) scenarios are in scope, ensure the storage type uses "Level of Available Quantity = Highest-Level HU," as ARM does not support the "Storage Bin" level.
