3777985 - Error "You don't have the right privileges to publish data changes" when publishing data in a story in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • Error message: "You don't have the right privileges to publish data changes" appears when attempting to publish data changes in a story in SAP Analytics Cloud.  
  • The issue occurs when a user tries to enter or modify a planning value in a story based on a Planning Model and clicks Publish.  

Environment

SAP Analytic Cloud 2026.8.10

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAC
  2. Open the story based on a Planning Model.
  3. Enter or modify a planning value
  4. Click Publish

Notice : Error "You don't have the right privileges to publish data changes." 

Cause

The user lacks sufficient permissions on the underlying Planning Model.  

Resolution

Grant the affected user Edit permission on the underlying Planning Mode
