3778315 - System-wide slowness due to the small value configured for parameter "allocationlimit"

Symptom

  • General system slowness across gui, web gui, and interfaces.
  • Sharp response time increase driven by high database time across task types (https, dialog, update, update2).
  • Wait time observed as a consequence of occupied work processes.
  • SMON shows many work processes with sequential read status.
  • ST03/Time Profile shows spikes in response and DB time;
  • STAD shows high “database request time” with many sequential reads, inserts, and updates.
  • No CPU or Memory usage spike from the result of SQL: HANA_LoadHistory_Services (SAP Note 1969700), but there is high number for "UNLOAD" column.
  • HANA traces show frequent memory shrink events during the time window.
