Symptom
- When creating a new class, there is no option to update required custom fields during creation.
- When the class is created, these fields are blank.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
- In Learning admin, create a class and enter the initial details in the class creation screen
- After the class is created, there are custom fields which are marked required but are blank.
- The class has been created and the required field was not required to be populated
- In Learning admin, start creating a course item and navigate to the Item Details tab.
- Observe the Description field marked as required (*).
- Proceed without filling the Description field.
Cause
- Custom class fields are not displayed in the class creation screen.
- As a result, the class is initially created without values in those custom fields even if they are configured as required.
- However, The system will prevent saving any additional changes to the class until required custom fields are completed, displaying a warning if any required custom field is blank.
Resolution
- Create the class as usual. Custom class fields will not appear during initial creation.
- After the class is created, open the class record for edit.
- Enter values for all required custom fields and save.
