3778427 - How to Create a Half-Day Absence When Using the Clock Time Variant

• Users are unable to book half-day absences for time types configured to allow half-day bookings.
• The system only shows the option to request absence as clock times (start time/end time), not a half‑day selection as 0.5
• The issue occurs when trying to book half-day absences for time types of clock-time variant.

• Product: SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

1. Access Time Off using the Clock Time recording variant (employee self-service or administer time).
2. Start a new absence request for a time type that permits half-day booking.
3. Attempt to select a half-day option in the requesting field (1, 0.5).
4. Observe that only clock time fields (start time and end time) are available; no half-day dropdown is offered.

• Working as designed: the Clock Time variant does not provide a half-day dropdown; half days must be recorded by entering start and end times.

1. For Clock Time users, record a half-day absence by entering start and end times manually (for example, start time 08:00 and end time 12:15, if the planned working hours is 8:00AM - 4:30PM ).
2. Alternatively, enable the Absence Duration feature to offer users selectable options (Full Day, First Half-Day, Second Half-Day, Custom Duration) during absence request.
3. Ensure that Time Tracking is enabled in Manage Employee Central Settings; Absence Duration requires Time Tracking to be active before the options appear in the request UI.
