Symptom
Story filter selection change doesn't have an effect on some story pages
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud
Reproducing the Issue
- Open a story that uses multiple linked models, where all model links are defined from one central model to the other (peripheral) models.
- Create a global dimension filter based on a dimension from one of the peripheral models.
- Add tables/charts on different pages that are built on various models.
- Change the filter value.
- Observe that tables/charts based on other peripheral models do not refresh, while those linked directly to the filter’s model (or the central model) update correctly.
Cause
The global filter is defined on a non-central (peripheral) model in the story’s linked-model structure.
Since all model links are defined from one central model to the others, the peripheral models are linked to the central model but not to each other. As a result, a filter based on a peripheral model cannot propagate to tables/charts built on other peripheral models, so those do not refresh.
Resolution
Define the global filter using the dimension from the central (source) model instead of a peripheral model. Because all other models link to the central model, the filter will then propagate correctly and all pages will refresh as expected.
