Symptom
- Unable to edit the H-1B text field during reverification in ONB 2.0.
- The text field is prepopulated and not editable, which is not applicable for current employees.
- This issue occurs with any employee when the H-1B visa is chosen.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- Start I‑9 Reverification (Section 3) in ONB 2.0.
- Select H‑1B as the visa/document type.
- Observe that the H‑1B-related text field is prepopulated and cannot be edited.
Resolution
- Verify the I‑9 task state:
- If Section 3 is Completed or the reverification task is closed, fields are read‑only. Use the Reopen/Reset Section 3 action (if enabled) to enter edit mode.
- If an E‑Verify case is open/closed and linked, certain fields are locked. Complete or close the E‑Verify case, then retry.
- Confirm role‑based permissions (RBP):
- Ensure the user has permissions for Manage Onboarding (including I‑9), I‑9 Admin/I‑9 Reverification (naming can vary by tenant), and access to Compliance Forms and Document Management.
- After changing RBP, have the user sign out and sign in again, then test.
- Check the field configuration for Section 3:
- In I‑9 configuration, ensure the H‑1B‑related field is visible and editable for the Reverification scenario (Section 3), not only for Section 2.
- If using MDF-based business rules, confirm no rule is setting the field to read‑only when H‑1B or related document types are selected.
