3779236 - Field in worksheet/executive review shows value in different language instead of viewer’s language for some users - Compensation

Symptom

In a compensation worksheet or executive review of your plan, you have noticed that for a particular column, there are some values that are being displayed in a different language for certain employees. This behaviour is seen some time after worksheets are launched (not initially).

For example, when in executive review of your plan, you notice that the Country column is showing values in a non-English language:

Despite all other values in the worksheet/executive review being in English, the country values are in a different language (with the above example, the Country values are listed as "Vereinigte Staaten", which is the "United States" in German)

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay
  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Compensation
  2. Open up a worksheet or executive review of plan
  3. Notice that for a particular column, values are listed in a different language for all or some employees in the form

Cause

The column that is experiencing this behaviour is not marked as Translatable in the compensation template.

If you have a planner/user who is using a non-English language, and they decide to open a worksheet and select Save, this can cause values for a column to remain in that planner/user's local language.

When a column is not marked as Translatable in the design worksheet, its translation depends on the locale of the planner/user who saved the worksheet. Consequently, for all other planners/users, this column will display in the locale language of the user who previously saved it.

Resolution

To resolve, edit the column in Design Worksheet and tick/enable the 'Translatable' option (Note: you may have to relaunch worksheets for this to come into effect. If any errors appear when saving this change in Design Worksheet, please refer to below article)

Alternatively if you are unable to currently relaunch the worksheets, you can 'Update all worksheets' (or carry out the 'Update a specific worksheet' option to the worksheet you have identified the issue with) in Manage Worksheets. This will refresh and return the values to display in English.
