Symptom
Google Analytics cookies (_ga_*) are created immediately after the career site loads, before the user accepts cookies through the Cookie Banner.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Marketing
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the career site in an incognito browser session.
-
Open the browser's Developer Tools.
- Navigate to Application > Cookies.
- Select the career site URL.
- Observe that Google Analytics cookies (_ga_*) have already been created.
Cause
The Google Analytics ID / Google Tag Manager ID is configured through Custom JavaScript or a Custom Plugin rather than through the standard Career Site Builder (CSB) configuration.
The Cookie Consent Manager does not work with custom JavaScript unless that custom JavaScript is configured within the Cookie Manager tab.
Resolution
The Cookie Consent Manager works with:
- CSB features, such as Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.
- Custom cookies/scripts that are configured inside the Cookie Manager tab.
To ensure that Google Analytics cookies are created only after the appropriate user consent has been provided:
- Remove any Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager scripts that have been added through Custom JavaScript and/or Custom Plugins.
- Configure the Google Analytics 4 ID / Google Tag Manager ID via CSB > Settings > Site Configuration > Site Information.
- Configure Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager under Advertising Cookies Section via CSB > Appearance > Global > Cookie Manager.
