3779412 - No "select all members" option for variables in excel add‑in prompt dialog in SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office

Symptom

  • In the prompt dialog of the excel add-in, mandatory multi-value variables from a live datasphere analytic model do not offer an “all members” or “select all” option.
  • Users must manually select individual members for the variable prompt.
  • In data analyzer on the same analytic model, a “select all” checkbox is available in the variable prompt.
  • In the excel add-in, dimension filters provide an “all members” option, but the variable prompt does not.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open a workbook in the SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office that uses a SAP Datasphere live connection to an Analytic Model with mandatory multi-value variables.
  2. Sign in to the required systems within the add-in and connect to the data source.
  3. Open the variable prompt dialog for the data source.
  4. Observe that no “all members” entry or “select all” checkbox is available for the multi-value variable; members must be selected individually.
  5. Open a dimension filter within the add-in and observe that an “all members” option is available for filters.
  6. Open the same Analytic Model in SAP Analytics Cloud Data Analyzer, open the variable prompt, and observe that a “select all” checkbox is available.

Cause

The behavior is by design: the SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office does not provide an All members/Select all option in the variable prompt for multi-value variables.

Resolution
