3779476 - ticket category value help empty, no category can be selected

Symptom

In a ticket, when you open the value help for any of the categories (service category, incident category, cause category etc), the list is empty.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Service work center and the view Tickets.
  2. Create a new ticket or open an existing ticket.
  3. In the Category section, open the value help for any of the category fields to select or change a category.
  4. Observe that the list is empty.

Cause

There are no active service category catalog versions at the current time, resulting in an empty category dropdown.

Resolution

  1. In the Administrator work center, navigate to Service and Social > Service Categories.
  2. Check whether a service category catalog version is active for the current date and time (Valid From/Valid To covers now).
  3. If no catalog version is active now, decide on one of the following options to bridge the gap.
  4. Option A: Wait until the next catalog version becomes valid if there is one created for a future timestamp already.
  5. Option B: Create and activate a new catalog version with a Valid From that covers the current time (interim period).
  6. Save and activate the catalog.
  7. Refresh the ticket UI and reattempt category selection to confirm the categories are visible.
