3780630 - How to troubleshoot inconsistencies in Enhanced People Search - SAP SuccessFactors

Symptom

After onboarding new users, updating user data or refreshing a SuccessFactors system, you might see outdated or inaccurate results in the Enhanced People Search results.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open global search.
  2. Search for the user.
  3. Observe that the result displays outdated information or discrepancies.

Cause

Making changes to users in the system might take time to propagate correctly in the backend search index, which is responsible for accurately displaying search results.

Resolution

Prerequisites:

  • Ensure Enhanced People Search is enabled in your system: Enabling People Search | SAP Help Portal 
  • Confirm the use case you are experiencing issues with is supported by Enhanced People Search: KBA 3736517 - Known Issues and Limitations in People Search in SuccessFactors

Once the prerequisites are confirmed, follow the steps to manually reindex the Enhanced People Search to resolve inconsistencies:

  1. Go to Scheduled Job Manager
  2. Switch to the Job Scheduler tab
  3. Create Job Request
  4. Create a one-time job from the type "Rebuild Company Index for Enhanced People Search" 
  5. Run it now
  6. After the job completes, allow additional time for indexing to propagate before rechecking global search results.
  7. Verify that the search results are not accurate

Notes:

  • The "Rebuild Company Index for Enhanced People Search" job can be run every 24 hours to reindex search
  • If you are still encountering issues after the reindexing, please open a support ticket on component LOD-SF-PLT-SRH
  • If you are using Legacy Search, please open a support ticket on component LOD-SF-PLT-SRH as Legacy Search indexing can only be performed by support from the backend
